Dieter Beaugrand laid the foundations of Educational & Business Systems Inc. (EBS) in 1997. The purpose of this foundation was and is to represent the German EBS GmbH in the USA and Canada.
Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Mr. Beaugrand has more than 40 years experience in the area of computer/electronic business development and marketing. In 1960 he assumed control of his family’s business, in Germany, “Louis Beaugrand KG” (later “Beaugrand Datentechnik GmbH”). From 1971 to 1985 his company represented an American-based company, “Compucorp”, a computer manufacturer in Los Angeles, CA. Compucorp manufactured the first microcomputers using MOS and the Z80 microcomputer chip, which began the microcomputer age. He served on the Board of Directors of Compucorp from 1975 to 1985 and helped redirect the company’s technology thrust.
Mr. Beaugrand later formed a special distribution force in Germany called Alphatext, which supported a group of software specialists who rewrote the word processing software for MS-DOS, and later, Windows© market. In 1998 Mr. Beaugrand formed the American company, Educational & Business Systems Inc. (EBS), which introduced a German-made computer classroom management system called Videodidact, which became the most successful teaching system in Europe for computer instructors. Mr. Beaugrand became an American citizen in 1999.

The company was founded in 1985 as alpha Computer Service GmbH. Only a year later, the first educational systems in the “alphadidact” product range developed and produced in-house was being installed. In 1991 the firm changed its name to EBS Euchner Büro- und Schulsysteme GmbH in order to clearly express the company’s activities in its name. Besides the head office in Heusenstamm and our own service and sales branches, there are EBS partners working locally for our customers in over 35 countries.
Today EBS can call on its experience with over 300,000 integrated
training places.
